Hotels can now apply for a government grant of $10-25K to assist with energy efficiency upgrades as part of the Hotel Energy Uplift Program.

The Hotel Energy Uplift Program provides grants to support small and medium hotels to reduce their energy use, improve energy productivity and deliver carbon abatement.
There is $10.2m worth of funding available. Objectives of the program are to assist hotels to upgrading their equipment to improve energy efficiency, upgrade the building fabric to save energy, such as improving windows, drapes or insulation, undertake energy management activities and assessments, such as energy audits and engineering feasibility studies for energy efficiency upgrades and invest in energy monitoring and management systems.
Applications open next week
Eligible to apply are small to medium sized hotels, motels or serviced apartment complexes with between 1 to 99 guestrooms. Rooms need to be advertised and booked by members of the public on a nightly basis.
When the program opens, applications need to be submitted through the online portal. The portal allows you to apply for and manage a grant or service in a secure online environment.
